Unveiling Resilience: A Journey To Healing

Meet Theresa Potter – Founder of Serene Solutions

Hello and welcome,

I’m Theresa Potter, the heart behind Serene Solutions. My journey has been anything but linear—woven through roles in social work, theology, education, psychotherapy, and hypnotherapy. But every step has brought me closer to this moment: walking beside others as they rediscover strength, purpose, and healing.

A Foundation Built on Experience

My career began in social work, where I supported children and families through the Australian Child Department and the Department of Communities. These frontline roles taught me not just the systems people navigate—but the emotional depth and resilience they carry.

My path as a theologian and educator led me to teach undergraduate studies in Africa, guiding conversations about purpose, identity, and belonging. This academic and spiritual grounding continues to inform my integrative approach to mental wellness.

Walking the Talk in Relationships

Beyond my professional work, I bring the insight of someone who has lived the journey. I’ve been married for over 33 years and in a loving relationship for more than three decades. I understand the challenges that come with long-term partnership—the ebbs and flows, the strain of health issues, the demands of raising a family, and the quiet work of staying connected.

This lived experience gives me a unique sensitivity and authenticity in supporting couples, especially those facing relational fatigue, emotional distance, or navigating life-altering stressors together. My practice integrates couples therapy as a space to reconnect, rediscover, and rebuild stronger foundations together.

A Personal Story of Resilience

My life took another turn when I was bitten by a tick in South Africa, triggering a chronic illness journey that eventually led to a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I’ve also experienced Bell’s Palsy, immune dysregulation, and the daily balancing act of managing physical health and mental well-being.

Living with chronic illness while maintaining family life has deepened my compassion, especially for those navigating invisible struggles. I understand what it means to feel exhausted, unseen, or overwhelmed—and how vital it is to be supported with empathy and skill.

An Integrative Approach to Healing

As a strategic psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist, I bring all of these life experiences together to offer a grounded, evidence-based, and heart-centred service. Whether you’re seeking individual counselling, couples therapy, group support, or transformative hypnotherapy, I create a safe, inclusive space for your journey.

You’re Not Alone

At Serene Solutions, I offer more than therapy—I offer partnership. If you’re facing challenges related to mental health, family dynamics, relationship strain, or spiritual disconnection, I welcome you to connect. Let’s build something strong, rooted in resilience and compassion, and move forward—together.
